Steam page teardowns

This week we're picking 3 indie Steam pages and critiquing them in public: capsule, short description, trailer, screenshots and tags. Free, specific and honest, with no strings attached.

First teardowns coming this week

Nothing is published yet. Write-ups will appear on this page as they're finished.

How to ask for one

  1. Reply to @wishlistforge on X with your Steam page link. The teardown offer post is the easiest place to reply.
  2. We pick 3 pages from the replies this week.
  3. Each teardown is published here, in public, for anyone to read.

No payment, no signup, nothing to buy. Because it's public, only send your page if you're happy for it to be critiqued openly.

What each teardown covers

Every teardown follows the same format, so they're easy to compare.

  1. 1. Capsule

Is the game name readable at small sizes, and do the art and genre come across at a glance in search results and store lists?

  2. 2. Short description

The 300 characters next to the capsule: the hook, whether the genre is named in words players search for, what the player actually does, and the ask to wishlist.

  3. 3. Trailer

How fast gameplay appears, whether the first seconds show what makes the game different, and whether it ends with the game name and a wishlist ask.

  4. 4. Screenshots

Do they show real gameplay, does each one say something new, and does the order tell a story when someone scrolls through them?

  5. 5. Tags

Whether the tags, especially the top ones, describe the game in the terms its players search for, and whether any are vague or misleading.

  6. 6. Top 3 fixes

The three changes we'd make first, in order, each specific enough to do this week.
